Sunglasses

Sunglasses became affordable for everyone during the decade of the 1950’s. A person could buy a pair of great looking shades for seventy-nine cents at Woolworth’s to wear to a poetry reading or to a beatnik bar. The famous “cat’s eye” sunglasses became popular in the fifties. They were worn by women, and most women had a set to go with almost every outfit they owned. They came in every style and color imaginable. These so called “cat’s eye” sunglasses were usually embellished with rhinestones and many other glittery accessories.
