Living in Fear

Being an illegal immigrant requires a lot of work. One, an illegal immigrant must have s steady income when they come over to the US. They could earn the money, get a loan, or borrow substantially from a family member. Many Mexicans often rely on family members who had already established their roots in the US, and look to these people as guidance in getting jobs and what to do in the first year.

The Palacios had came over to the US as illegal immigrants. In their story, the Palacios tell of a detailed account of how they worked as undocumented fruit pickers at a farm.

How they got to the US was by crossing the fence border between Mexico and the US. When they got to the US, they immediately went to a closeby house where their friends were living. There, the Palacios got the chance to work as undocumented fruit pickers and earn their money there.

The Palacios also shared some of their most terrifying moments of almost being caught and the great relief of when they finally got their citizenship. When the Palacios finally had their citizenship, they no longer had to worry about the dangers of being deported and losing what they had made in the US. Furthermore, they had six US born children. Now that they are true citizens of the US, the Palacios can now live an easier life without looking over their shoulders for the next chance of getting caught.
