Everyone knows about the Japanese and Chinese immigration boom; however there was another party in this. The Filipinos fought to make a name for themselves dominating the Farming and Fishing industries. Being accepted as laborers but discriminated as settlers, the Filipinos only sought a place where they cold live in peace. They settled into the International District. The Eastern Hotel played a vital role in the housing for Filipino’s. The Eastern Hotel has been renovated to this day to include an extensive history and background for Filipino’s.
