Valiant Soldiers of WWII

Chinese Weapons

Chinese weapons were mostly given or stolen from other countries. Without them,

The Chinese wouldn’t have been able to help the Americans defeat the Japanese and the other countries without these weapons. As I said, these weapons were not made by the Chinese but, they were still able to work them properly and used them very effective. The Chinese used Ka-Bar knives that were made from the Koreans originally and then made by the United States. They also used the M1911 which was a handgun, the Lockheed P-38 nicknamed “lightning,” which was a plane that dropped bombs. Also, they used bayonets and the Johnson M1941. They also used other weapons in World War II, but I will only talk about these.

Combat knifeThese combat knives were used by the Koreans in the beginning, then the Americans started using them. It was used as an utility knife for the Marines. These knives were used to do daily tasks such as pounding tent stakes, driving nails, opening ration cans, and digging foxholes. Also, they were used to defend from close range attacks. Description: about 12 in. long, leather handle, about 0.68lbs, 7 in. fixed blade.

P-38 LightningThe P-38 Lightning was designed in 1937, just before World War II. The first one build was in 1939, where it flew from California to New York in seven hours. The P-38 was equipped with droppable fuel tanks under its wings. It was used extensively as a long range escort fighter and was used in almost every major combat area in the world. The Lightning was also used for dive bombing, level bombing, ground strafing and photo reconnaissance missions. By the end of production in 1945, 9,923 P-38s had been built. Description: The average length of the lightning was 37ft, 10 inches. The average height was 12ft, 10 inches. It weighed about 17,500 lbs and used .50 cal. Machines guns and also one 20mm cannon. Its maximum speed was 414 mph, cruising speed was 275 mph, and the range was 1,100 miles. The estimated cost of the plane was about $115,000.
