Gordon Kiyoshi Hirabayashi
Born in Seattle, Washington on April 23, 1918 to Issei parents. Gordon was one of the few who opposed the government's evacuation of the Japanese. His conviction on May 16, 1942 for breaking the curfew law was not overturned until 1987. |

Fred Toyosaburo Korematsu
Born to Japanese immigrant in 1919, Korematsu grew up in Oakland, California with his family of six. When Executive Order 9066 was passed, he attempted to escape the order by running away with his caucasian girlfriend to Nevada. He was later caught and convicted of violating the military exclusion order. His case was not vacated until November of 1983.

Minoru Yasui
Born to Issei parents on October 19, 1916 in Hood River, Oregon. Minoru was the first Japanese to oppose the curfew law. He stayed out until 11 p.m. demanding to be arrested for violating the curfew. On March 28, 1942, he was convicted and sent to a year in jail along with a five thousand dollar fine. He was sent to the Minidoka War Relocation Camp after serving his time.
