Singapore
Singapore was discovered as a British Trading colony in 1819. In became independent from Malaysia in 1965 now is one of the worlds "most prosperous countries with strong international trading links." This island is located between Malaysia and Indonesia. It has an area of about 693 square miles and is "slightly more than 3.5 times the size of Washington, DC." It has a tropical climate, meaning the weather is mostly hot, humid, or rainy. Some of the problems with this country are its "industrial pollution, limited natural fresh water resources, and limited land availability." There are many more.

Singapore has a population of 4,353,893. The ethnic breakdown of the Singaporean citizens is 76.7% Chinese, 14% Malay, 7.9% Indian, and 1.4% other. Religiously the people are either "Buddhist (Chinese), Muslim (Malays), Christian, Hindu, Sikh, Taoist, or Confucians." Most speak Chinese, which is the official language, as well as Malay. However some understand Tamil and English also.
