The "Hand on" programs are a part of a national organization called CityCares, headquatered in Atlanta. CityCares organization can be found in 30 cities across America and boast over 250,000 voluteers. "Hands on Portland" values the rich diversity of our community and believes that volunteer sevices provide an ideal opportunity for people to build mutual respect and understanding.

Q: What kinds of volunteer projects are available at HOP?

A: Each month, HOP have more than 50 hands on, direct-service plans for non-profit community projects toward heath, youth and education, hunger and homeless, seniors and disabled, animal welfare and the environment.

Q: How do I become a member of HOP?

A: It's really quick and easy!   You only need to create yourself a login account when you register and your information will be kept private and secured.

Q: How can I sign up for a volunteer project after I have become a member?

A: Go to the volunteer section on our website and look for the projects that interest you.   Then you can sign up for those projects through our website.   After that, you will receive an e-mail with some essential directions and other instructions which are related to the project.   Finally, just go out on the project and have a fun time while you can also help to meet an important community need.

Q: Does it cost me anything for the monthly volunteer program?

A: NO.   There is no fee for volunteering at HOP.   However, HOP will periodically ask volunteers to make a financial donation, but don' worry, it's not required.

Q: How many hours do I need to commit each month?

A: It's completely up to you!   You can make it easy and best fit for your own schedule.   That's the only way you will enjoy your volunteering.
