FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q: Is “Pro” Wrestling the same as the wrestling in my High School?

A: NO. Pro-wrestling is what you see on television. It is fake, and they act from a script. Wrestling is an Olympic sport that requires effort, skill, practice, strenuous physical activity, and a lot of mental preparation.

Q: Is the Soviet Union better than the US, based on the stats provided?

A: That depends on what you are looking at. It’s hard to determine who is better, on account of the different styles of wrestling. If you are comparing how many medals the teams have, then the US has 103 total medals compared against the Soviets 69 medals. But again, its difficult to pronounce which is the better team because of the different styles of play.

Q:  Looking at the stats, it says that the Soviet Union is in both the Greco-Roman and Freestyle methods... Is that a typo?

A:  No.  Wrestlers have a choice of what they would like to wrestle.  A country could have 2 Greco-Roman wrestlers and 90 Freestyles, and vice versa.  In the US, our colligate wrestlers are taught the Freestyle method, which is the reason for our 45 freestyle gold medals, and our 2 Greco-Roman gold medals.

Q: So this page is all about Mental Toughness, does that mean that you don’t have to work out or be in shape in any way or form, and you will still win?

A: No, what we are saying is that if you have prepared yourself mentally before a game, by not getting yourself involved with drugs, alcohol, bad relationships, you will have an edge. The point we are trying to make is that, if you have two wrestlers, each equal in size, muscle, and endurance, the one that is mentally prepared, the one who woke up early to get focused, the one who eat, sleeps, and dreams about wrestling is going to be the one to prevail.

Q: How do you feel about weight cutting?

A: You shouldn't cut more weight than recommended by a physician or your school trainer. If you cut too much weight it stresses your body and our mind, an dif your mind is stressed out you wont be able to focus on the match ahead of you. Even more, your body may suffer serious long term effects from cutting too much weight.
