Cambodia's Relationship
with the world after the Khmer Rouge...
The relationship between Cambodia and
the United States has been steadily improving. The U.S. opened the
U.S. Mission in Phnom Penh on November 11, 1991. Its purpose is
to continue strengthening the diplomatic ties between the two countries.
The United State also discontinued its trading embargo with Cambodia
on January 3, 1992. The U.S. stopped trading with Cambodia when
Vietnam invaded in 1979. Since then the two countries have established
full diplomatic relations.
The United States helps Cambodia build
its economy and strengthen its security. They also provide support
in any of Cambodia's political decisions. The U.S. aids Cambodia
on its quest to promote human rights within the country and they
try the best they can in helping Cambodia eradicate corruption in
the system.
