Nutrition is also a key element to maintaining a healthy sober life. Here is a list of healthy habits that facilitate a healthy recovery:

  • Staying active (sweating is your best friend as well as hygiene after!) Vital for a healthy body. Many ways to do so, includes sports, disciplines such as karate, or even just walking and biking everywhere.
  • Eat fruits and vegetables (healthy snacks fruits in morning and after early dinner w/ veggies all through the day)
  • Eat mix of carbohydrates (pastas, bread, rice) and proteins (fish and poultry are high source of protein)
  • Have weekly schedule of foods to be eaten with the family.
  • Keep heart rate up because working out your heart is Very important (running, jogging, walking, swimming, aerobics, playing sports, conditioning)
  • Take vitamins (calcium, vitamin B and A, and all the others for growing into a healthy adult)
  • Regular checkups from family doctors
  • Stay away from fattening fast food and candies
  • Get good nights rest and try to stay up all day as apposed to napping
  • Learn your habits and what your body does well with and the most important thing is become comfortable with your habits and refrain from hurting yourself (i.e. overworking yourself, doing something too much for your own self)
