Graph Do you know what AIDS stand for?
AIDS stands for Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome. Out of the fifty people we surveyed, 86% know what AIDS stand for and 14% do not know what it stands for. This means that the majority of the people is aware of the disease and has taken classes or courses relating about the issue.

Graph If you have HIV, do you have AIDS?
Having HIV does not necessary mean that you have full blown AIDS. This survey shows that 70% of this group understands that HIV is just the infectious agent that will lead into AIDS. However, 30% still do not understand about the relation between the two and is still uncertain about the disease.

Graph Do you know anyone who has AIDS?
80% of the people in our survey said “no” they do not know someone with AIDS, and 20% said they did. This means the spread of AIDS here in the U.S is not as prevalent as in Africa because everyone knows someone with AIDS.

When/how was the first time you heard about AIDS?
Out of 50 people, 4% said they know about AIDS even before they started school. 28% said they learned about it during elementary school, and 50% said they learned about it in middle school. This analysis concludes that in the U.S, the disease is very serious and that schools and teachers are very aware about the program. In Africa, children are not given the opportunity to get an education due to the lack of money. Therefore, the disease in the U.S can be more contained because they receive more education.
