Origins of The Holocaust

The Holocaust actually began when the Nuremburg Laws were passed in 1935. These laws kept German-Jews from raising the German flag. It also did not let German-Jews to marry German citizens. The laws did not allow them to have extramarital relations with German citizens, and banned them from any political participation. Jewish doctors were forced to resign from private hospitals. In 1937, Jews were prohibited from obtaining passports and traveling. Jewish passports ration cards were marked with a " J " and about 15,000 German-Jews were relocated to Poland. In 1939, Jews were all required to carry identification cards and all Jewish street names were replaced with German names.

After the death of Ernst Von Rath, Goebbels instigated acts of violence against Jews in Berlin. The Jews were then held responsible for all of the damage done in Kristallnacht; Night of Broken Glass. On November 15, 1938, Jews were forbidden to attend movies, plays, concerts, Jewish childern were forbidden to attend German Schools and curfews were placed on Jews. Thus began the Holocaust: with violence against the Jews and other "sub-humans", plus the rights and freedom to live taken from them.
