Barry "Bobo" Tantog

Aloha, my name is Bobo Tantog.  I have been surfing since I was 10, so 20 years.  My favorite surf spots I like to surf at is Rock Point Left and Haleiwa Beach Park.
I have entered a lot of surf competitions.  My biggest surf competition accomplishment would have to be when I was 15 years old.  I entered the Quicksilver 4th Annual pro-division and I placed 2nd.  I have also been the Big Island Jr. Men’s champ for 2 years.
I have been sponsored by Gorilla grip, Local Motion, Pacific Vibration, Quicksilver, and about 5-6 more surf shops.
One of the scariest moments in surfing was on Dec. 22nd, 1990.  I was surfing at Jocko’s on an 8’-10’ Hawaiian wave day.  Then this 15’ wave came and shut down 10 feet in front of me.  So I dove under to avoid the wave.  I was held under for what seemed like minutes.  When I surfaced, the next set came and I was held under for a lifetime.  Something brought me back up.  I was so lucky to have air in my body, I thought I was going to die.
