Things in the world interact together to create systems. These systems can't be studied one piece at a time like normal scientists would prefer. You must view things as a whole to understand the full system. The indvidual pieces only make up a portion of the whole. Pieces complicate each other and modify what the other components do. This is why there is system dynamics. Those in the field learn about different systems and model them to be able to make predictions based on those models.
