For the age group 20-44 years old, stroke is:

~    2.4 times more likely to take place in African Americans

~    2.5 times more likely to take place in Latinos

~    Cardiovascular disease and stroke cause 39.4% of all American deaths

~    Individuals who have hypertension are three times more likely to have a stroke

~     Patients who are Asian have higher incidences because of recognition or controlling hypertension

~    Caucasians are at a less risk of dying from stroke than African Americans

~    African American males between the ages of 33 and 44 are 3-4 times more likely to have a heart attack than a white males from the same age group
