Cardiovascular diseases, such as heart attack, are the number one cause of death among African Americans.  African American men, specifically, are more prone to die of heart attacks compared to other men.

 

~ About 1.1 million people are expected to have a heart attack per year.

~ Of each 100,000 people who died from coronary heart disease (including heart attacks), 262 were African American men.

~ In the year 2000, 510 African American men died of a cardiovascular disease per 100,000 populations.

~ 26.3 million men who smoke put themselves at a great risk of heart attack.
