One day each year is set aside as the day to remember the holocaust and the people it claimed. This day is Yom HaShoa, or in English, Holocaust Remembrance Day. Generally Yom HaShoa takes place during the spring, but because it is set according to the Jewish calendar the actual date varies from year to year. On the Hebrew calendar this day is marked on Nisan 27th. It is a day filled with solemnity, sincerity, and education. As the world remembers past undesirable occurrences, it prevents them from reoccurring. As the world remembers the holocaust, it makes sure such an event remains in the past and does not slip into the future.
