Playing KatoKato (made in Lao) is made from bamboo tree; Kato was invented before soccer. Back in the old days, Kato was played almost the same way as volleyball is played today. The difference is that Kato is played by using your feet, body, and head. On of the rules was you were not allowed to use your hands. Prices for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place are given to the winning teams. The top prize is five hundred dollars.

 

 
 

Playing VolleyBallVolleyball is played during Hmong New Year. Unlike Soccer and Kato, both male and females play volleyball. There is more than one game competition of volleyball played between all the teams. Prices are given as well. The winning teams both males and females get five hundred dollars as their winning prize.

 

 

Playing SoccerSoccer is a big tournament that takes place during Hmong New Year. Many Hmong people go to the New Year just to watch the Soccer games and to cheer for their favorite team. Soccer is given the top highest prize money for the winning team. First place gets five thousand dollars, the second place team gets three thousand dollars, and the third place receives one thousand dollars.
