The Independent,
a news magazine, published an article called "The Story of
a Sweatshop Girl" in 1902. The following is the summary of that
article which can be found in the book called Voices of the
American Past. Iqbal Mashih
Twelve-year-old Pakistani,
Iqbal Mashih, spoke to Broadview Middle School students about his experience
as a bonded laborer. He was also accepted the "Youth in Action"
award presented by Reebok's human rights division. Iqbal shocked many
of the children his age when he spoke in detail of his experiences as
a factory worker weaving carpets. Other Stories:
