|Stress is a common feeling that is
sometimes overwhelming enough to affect the physiological,
as well as the psychological. For some, when stress changes,
imbalances in hormones occur. This off sets the body's
natural functions and can lead to heart disease, immune
system disorders, autonomic nervous system disorders,
and other aliments which affects the mind, body, and eventually
Stress may increase your susceptibility to illnesses.
Heart disease even today is the
leading cause of death in North America. This disease can
run in the family and is a factor for a person being susceptible
to heart attack but it is another big result of stress. Negative
emotions, which include anxiety, and more, can lead to poor
health choices such as an unhealthy diet or smoking. These
unhealthy habits can also lead to heart disease.
The immune system is what defends
the body form viruses, bacteria, and other foreign substances
that can cause the body harm. To protect the body from becoming
infected, white blood cells are made to defend the body. Lymphocytes
are the of white blood cells and consist of two types: the
B lymphocytes and t lymphocytes. There are two ways that the
body can react to invaders, either too strongly where it attacks
its own body or not strong enough where it enables the invaders
to infect. With stress in our lives the brain controls the
secretions of stress hormones, which can affect the lymphocytes
by causing the immune system to become less active.
The autonomic nervous system is
the part of the peripheral nervous system that controls the
glands and the muscles of the internal organs. Most stressed
people have unhealthy habits such as smoking, drinking, and
consuming foods with no nutritional value. This in turn affects
the body stressed person negatively.
