During Freedom Summer, the volunteers
had to face many dangers. Many of the threats that were made against
them were not followed through, but some resulted in death or injury.
Four project workers were killed, four people were critically wounded,
eighty volunteers beaten, 1,000 arrested, thirty seven churches bombed
or burned, and thirty black homes or businesses bombed or burned.
This happened only in three months. This page gives homage to those
who couragously gave their lives for Freedom Summer.
