Dr. William P. Foster

 

Dr. William P. Foster is a prominent figure in black band organizations in the world today. He is known as the founder of the Florida A&M University Marching "100" Band. He received his Bachelor of Music Degree from University of Kansas, his Master of Arts from Wayne University and his Doctorate of Education from Columbia University.

His first band consisted of 16 instruments. It later grew to over 300 members and is still standing strong today. His band is known nationwide for their various performances. Some of their performances include: the Bastille Day Parade in Paris, France, the 15th annual and the 25th annual Celebration of Walt Disney World, and the inaugural procession for President William Clinton.

Dr. Foster also created marching band techniques and the reformatting in collegiate style marching bands. Dr. Foster has been called many majestic names above all others such as: "The Law", Greatest Band Director, and the Maestro.
