Miscellaneous - Risks

*The cost of developing self-replicating systems will be high
*Might be “cheap” once built because they will be self-replicating
*People might fear that once inside the human body nanorobots will replicate wild
*Nanorobots will need international laws, policies, and regulations before starting to be used
*People understand self-replicating systems as biological
*Self-replicating systems have two major risks:
1. Having nanorobots replicate without restrain
2. Because of the replication there might be mutations which will have an impact in evolution process (Ralph Merkle)

Contraversial Issue

Dr. Eric Drexler once stated that with the arrival of Nanotechnology human kind would live in a utopian age of peace, but other dissent. Scientist Billy Joy states that Nanotechnology would make human kind an endangered species, he believes the robots will improve on themselves, self-replicate and perform the work of humanity. Other scientists believe that by creating this device, privacy will no longer be privacy. Our every day lives will be monitor with devices that are microscopic. Well that’s not the case, a medical Nanorobot will never have the capacity of self-replicating, for the consideration that the FDA will never approve such madness or take the risk. Thus, scientists will be tightly monitor by the government anywhere Nanorobots flourish.
