University will offer nanotechnology academic degrees in a
decade, lead by Professor Rick Smalley. On October 14, 1998,
Johnson Space Center, Houston and Rice University plans to
do research on new materials and products using fullerene
fibers, carbon fiber structures, about 30 to 100 times stronger
than steel but one sixth lighter. (Smalley) |
