history | discovery | recent research Dyslexia was made known to the world in 1876 by a group of doctors. Before then, doctors thought of dyslexia as vision problems. Doctors would make special glasses and check the patient's eyes to see if anything was wrong. Finally they discovered that it was not the eye, but the brain that caused the problems of dyslexia.
