Waiting on the steps

Many of the things
that held the immigrants back were the laws and acts applied by the
U.S. government. People's negative attitudes towards the Chinese started
to gain influence on the decisions made in the courts. All of this anger
erupted due to the many Chinese immigrants taking over the job market.
The jealous Americans cried in protest and spread rumors about how the
Chinese immigrants could bring in different diseases or how the crimes
rates would go up, although this was proven not to be true. Through
Unions and higher ranked positions in society, the Chinese spirit weakened
as the laws banning them began to take affect.
