In very cold weather a small snow shelter can provide excellent insulation from the cold. If your snow shelter is built correctly, you will be surprised at how cozy it can actually be. To build an easy snow shelter follow these guide lines:

1. Using some kind of digging tool, dig a narrow trench wide enough for your body and a few feet deep.
2. Line the bottom of the trench with boughs.
3. Cover the top of the trench with a tarp or overlay branches and boughs on top.
