Shelter
protects you from excess exposure from sun, cold, wind, rain or snow.
Always remember that the most important thing is to maintain your
core body temperature. The best kind of shelter is quick to build,
near available materials and, free from wind, moisture hazards from
falling dead wood. Make it as warm or shaded and as water proof as
possible. Before traveling into extreme conditions make sure that
you are dressed accordingly. Do this by layering clothing that will
protect you from the weather and will allow you to adapt to different
conditions.
