How to Build a Lean-to Shelter Without a Tarp:
This shelter takes much more time and effort to build than the lean to with a tarp. Also, the end product isn't as efficient. It is a good idea to pack a lightweight tarp in your survival kit if possible.
1. Lash a 10ft pole 3 ft high on a standing tree.
2. Find long branches from an evergreen tree.
3. Lay the branches with butts (thick end) in the ground, against the pole on both sides, overlapping them like you would roof shingles.
