
Newman offers a varsity (Paul Michlig) and a junior varsity (Chris Kroenes) football team. The Newman football team hasn't been successful if you look at the scoreboard, but if you look at what they are doing to become better, then they are a success. The football team is under a new coaching staff and are on their way up the ladder in the football powerhouse Marawood Conference. With young and talented players coming up through the system, along with the coaches, the future looks good for the Cardinals.

Newman offers a freshman (Dana Skrzypchak), junior varsity (Luke Hart), and a varsity (Jessica Beyer) teams. The Newman volleyball team will be losing key players Dana Shultz, Ashley Holl, and Josie Goestch due to graduation. The Cardinals will be lost for age and experience, but they have some good up coming talent that will be helpful in the future.

Newman offers a varsity (Mike Switalski) and a junior varsity (Matthew Hawkins) team. The Newman soccer team has had some great success in the past two seasons with great play by the seniors. After winning regionals last year the team has lost many key components to their team because of graduation. Even though the team will be a little depleted the soccer team still looks to be competitive.

There is a varsity and junior varsity girls tennis team available at Newman. The girls tennis teams are coached by Randy Juley. Over the past two seasons the girls tennis team has recorded two perfect seasons in a row. The girls tennis team was lead by Katie Hoida and Hartley Kurtz who made it all the way to the state tournament. The future looks bright for the girls tennis team with many freshman and sophomores.

Newman offers a varsity (Jeff Gress), junior varsity (Chris Kroenes), and freshman (Paul Michlig) team for boys basketball. The Newman boys basketball team is very young with only one departing senior (Paul Loppnow), which makes the future look very bright for the Cardinals. The boys team is lead by juniors Justin Kozlowski, Mike Rosenthal, and Mike Schmidt. The boys team has their goals set and are ready for a run at the state tournament.

Newman also offers a freshman (Reggie Becker), junior varsity (Grechin Cray), and varsity (Tom Weinkauf) team for girls basketball. The girls are the defending WIAA Division 3 State Champions, and have once again made a return trip to the state tournament. This is the girls third consecutive trip to the state tournament. The Newman girls basketball team is lead by senior Dana Shultz and Angela Bandoch, along with various other juniors and seniors. On their road to the state tournament the girls have accumulated a record of 22-2 heading into the tournament. The girls were also the Marawood Conference Co-Champions for the second year in a row.

Newman only has a varsity track team. The track team is coached by Paul Michlig, Tom Landretti, and John Humpal. The Newman track team looks to be a very strong team once again this season. Junior Kristen Barr, the defending State champion in the 100 and 200 meter dashes, looks to lead the girls team, while Mike Rosenthal and various other experienced junior guys take on the leadership role for the boys team.

There is a varsity (John Raflik) and junior varsity (Dan Smet) baseball team at Newman. The Newman baseball team is very young, with only one senior and a majority of sophomores and juniors. With the majority of underclassmen, the future looks bright for the Cardinals.

Newman only offers a varsity girls softball team. The softball team is coached by Jim Havlish and Kelly Leveque. The softball team is very low in numbers and is mainly a junior and senior based team. The Cardinals may lack numbers, but they won't lack heart or determination this season.

Newman only offers a varsity boys tennis team. The boys are coached by Randy Juley. The boys tennis team has been fairly successful the past few years, and once again are looking towards another great season. The Cardinals tennis team is fairly young, so the road to success still looks open.

Girls soccer is the newest addition to the various sports that are offered at Newman. The girls soccer team is being considered a club sport as of right now.

The Newman Nordic ski team is coached by star skier Bill Bowler Sr. The Nordic ski team is now in its second year as a varsity sport, and the outlook for the future looks very bright. The leader for the Nordic ski team is star skier Bill Bowler. Bill just recently became the State champion in cross country skiing and recently competed in Alaska, in the National competition.
