Accounting
acquaints the student with the use of business papers, forms and reports
involved in keeping financial records and develops skills in analyzing and
interpreting information. Students
are given working papers to accompany the text as well as a simulation of the
accounting cycle. The students will
journalize transactions, posting to General and Subsidiary ledgers, completing a
worksheet and doing the end of period financial statements for Sole
Proprietorships, Partnerships and Corporations. Students will do payroll, adjusting and closing entries,
uncollectible accounts receivable, accounting for plant assets and depreciation,
inventory and accrued revenue and expenses.
Students
thinking of majoring in business in college should take this course.
APPLIED
BUSINESS AND COMMUNICATION

will be an interdisciplinary course taught by the Business and English
departments. Course focus will be
on publication and marketing the yearbook, school newspaper and other projects.
Experience in writing, desktop publishing, computer graphics and
photography will be included.

course, offered in cooperation with Junior Achievement, emphasizes a personal
approach to economics. Local
business people are part of the program. Students
participate in the Stock market game and a computer simulation where they
produce, market, and price a product competing with the other companies for
