ART
(1.0 Credit in Fine Arts Required)
Prerequisite
to all other art courses unless waived by instructor.
Good
art reflects good design. A study
of design can help you appreciate what visual art is, why it is made, what it is
made of, how to interpret its meaning and evaluate its composition and quality.
You do not have to be a good artist to take Design but should take Design
if you want to be a better artist. In
this course, students learn about the basics of visual art and how to apply it
to their work to improve their compositions and drawing ability.
A variety of media and techniques are explored.
A more detailed course description and supplies list are available upon
request.

IV - SPECIAL PROJECTS ART
E, Grade
12
0.5 Credit
Semester I
or II
Prerequisite:
Art I A, Art I B AND Consent of Instructor
Because students will develop advanced projects in
previously studied media for this course, they need to be self-directed.
Students may be put in with the course titled by the media they wish to
pursue and may then have additional responsibility as peer tutors or lab
assistants (photography). An
application form outlining student goals must be completed and approved prior to
each grading period. Students will
present work and share experiences through a combination of verbal and written
critiques. The serious Art student
may wish to use this course as time to photograph their work and polish their
student portfolio in preparation for admission to an art school.
If this is the case, the student should take this course the first
semester of the Senior year or see the instructor about special permission to
begin at the end of their Junior year as a Senior project option.
