CHECK OUT MY  KoRn and  Disturbed pages while you're around  (come on...you're not doing anything else)

WELCOME TO THE DARK SIDE OF ROCK N ROLL...

OKAY MAYBE NOT....

This page will deal with Heavy Metal and while the background pic may not fit with the theme of this page. The Beatles were one of Rock and Roll's pioneers. Metal is a more Heavy version and is quickly becoming the standard of Rock. With bands like KoRn and Disturbed becoming more mainstream or popular in the world of bubble gum pop princes and princess...how can this be?

Well some of us just like something a little less...cute and happy. Where can we turn? Well...look no further then your friendly neighborhood rock station. Here in Wisconsin we have Z104.1 to turn to. If you are not lucky enough to have one, buy a CD or...something to quench your Metal thirst.

Also with the new and somewhat good invention of able to listen to the radio over the net, people are listening to music while they are on-line. Depending on how good your connection is, you may be able to listen to an entire song without having a buffer come up every few minutes. I Have a somewhat good connection and depending on the site, I can listen to a few songs before the buffer comes up. The buffer is what happens when your browser needs to re-connect with the site. I highly recommend the station at www.vampirefreaks.com. this site has "unknown" bands like Crystal Method and the Cruxshadows. They also will play some Bauhaus and some Siouxie and the Banshees....but that's rarely.

Here in Wisconsin not many bands venture farther than say Madison or Milwaukee but there are a few that will such as Ted Nugent and JackylThank you for bands like Jackyl. click on the pic to go to the site where I got it from.

Some metal bands come to us from overseas. Mainly from Germany such as Dimmu Borgir and Rammstein. Rammstein is most known for "du hast" and "links 2-3-4" They are best known for their heavy guitar rhythm.  Du hast starts out with a keyboard and three drum beats then the guitar(s) start....and I mean start. This is THE tune to bang your head to.

Dimmu Borgir on the other hand, write ALL of their songs in GERMAN. And the singer's almost banshee-like style of singing doesn't help those of you who can't understand German. I bought their CD "Stormblast" and I found it amazing...they have about 3 tracks of heavy-thrash-metal-guitar-riffs then they have a track called Sorgens kammer with nothing but a piano and a gong. The songs themselves start out with a light intro getting you to think, "okay this is nice. and then WHAM the guitar starts with their thrash style. Dimmu Borgir is NOT your typical rock band. Dimmu Borgir.. if you are curious stand for "Big Castle" or something. Dimmu Borgir was a reason behind  learning the German language....the other reason so I can read the posters in Mr. Hawkins' room.
