Lesson 2: NEGATION

Nicht is used in German to negate phrases or clauses.  In English, it translates to ‘not’  Depending on what kind of sentence structure is used, the placement of nicht differs.  

In the next few pages, you will see different instances of nicht and their particular uses!

Remember, you must pay careful attention to where the negation is used.  Generally, you place the negation before the element that you want to stress.
