Modal auxiliary verbs express mood, subjective
feeling (I can, must, want, etc.), or state of mind.
Here are the modals and their conjugations. Notice that the conjugation is irregular for the first and
third person singular forms, but they are the same, as well as the
stem-vowel changes!
