The Story

Several ghosts are believed to be haunting The Crescent Hotel in Eureka Springs. The Crescent Hotel is located in Eureka Springs, Arkansas, US. There are many stories of people dying in the hotel. The Crescent Hotel is said to be haunted by a series of ghosts. The hotel has been used in many different ways. It has been a college, a cancer hospital, and a hotel. Several certain rooms are said to be haunted. They are room 218 and 203, along with the second floor and third floor.
In 1886 the Crescent Hotel was built. During construction a worker fell from the upper scaffolding down onto the second floor. The area where he died is where room 218 is located. The building was finally completed in 1908 and was opened as the Crescent College and Conservatory for Young Women. A young girl threw herself from the uppermost balcony of the building. Her ghost is seen as a young lady dressed in an old-fashioned white dress. She has been seen wandering the garden but disappears when someone approaches her. The college closed in 1924. The building was purchased by Doctor Norman Baker in 1937 and he used it as a cancer hospital. He had been in trouble with the law in other states before for practicing medicine without a license. Many sick patients died in the hotel during the years Baker owned it. There was even a small room where he locked his dying patients. The walls had 8" limestone as insulation that way the screams of agony of the patients couldn't be heard by passing people. Nurses have been seen pushing gurneys down the second and third floor hallways. The cancer hospital was closed and purchased again in 1946 this time with the intent of being a hotel. Another ghost in the hotel is one of a man in a dark suit who sits in the old bar area off of the lobby. There is an invisible presence stretched out on a different number of beds. Some guests who stay on the second floor sometimes call the front desk to complain about the organ music in the late night hour. Many people keep seeing, hearing, and feeling things throughout the hotel that they believe are the result of ghosts.

Evidence For
There have been many different encounters in the Crescent Hotel. Many people even have pictures as proof. With a past full of so many deaths you can't help but wonder if their ghosts haunt the hotel. Many of the staff members of the hotel have there own stories about the ghosts of the Crescent Hotel.

Evidence Against
Many people may be lying about what they have seen. With today's technology any one could take a picture and add special affects to it making it look like a ghost is in the picture.
