Mexican Dancing
******
Dancing, to
the Mexican people, is a link to their culture and art. In many places
dancing is a large part of their culture and sometimes their only art form.
Before the Spaniards arrived there were many different dances in Mexico.
Some monks thought little of these dances from the Indian people and tried
to change them to fit into the Christian religion. Today some aspects
of the native Mexican dance have been preserved in the clothing and instruments
that are used such as different sized drums and reed flutes. Today,
in central Mexico, some of the native Mexican dances are still performed.
