Gao Xingjian - Born in Ganzhou, China, he went to a college in Beijing and earned a degree in French literature and language. He is a novelist, playwright , translator, critic, director and artist. After being criticized and harassed by his own country of China for his work, he moved to France in the early 1990's. Some of his most popular works were: Chezan (The Bus Stop) a play and Ling Shan (Soul Mountain) a novel. The novel Ling Shan helped him win the Nobel Prize for Literature in 2000.
