In 1305 Wiliam Wallace was arrested and condemned as a traitor to King Edward, even though he had never sworn allegiance to him. Wallace was hung by the neck (but not untill dead), his body was disembowed while still alive. Wallace was decapitated and his body was divide into four parts. His head was impaled on a spike and displayed at London Bridge. His right arm was displayed at the bridge at Newcastle-upon-Tyne, his left arm at Berwick, his right leg at Perth, and his left leg at Aberdeen.
