Radio Telescopes
Radio telescopes are large parabolic dishes that observe non- visual parts of the electromagnetic spectrum, mostly radio waves, from a distance. SETI uses such telescopes to search for electromagnetic waves containing intelligent messages to discover extraterrestrial civilizations.
SETI uses both large radio telescopes and radio telescope arrays to scan space in the direction of solar systems that may contain planets with intelligent life.
