Radio Telescopes

•     Radio telescopes are large parabolic dishes that observe non- visual parts of the electromagnetic spectrum, mostly radio waves, from a distance. SETI uses such telescopes to search for electromagnetic waves containing intelligent messages to discover extraterrestrial civilizations.

•     SETI uses both large radio telescopes and radio telescope arrays to scan space in the direction of solar systems that may contain planets with intelligent life.
