Colonel William Prescott was born in Groton, Massachusetts, in 1726. Throughout his life he served in the militia. Colonel William Prescott served in the French and Indian War.

After the French and Indian War, he fortified Breed's Hill from the "Redcoats." He held his men at their post until the second they had to retreat.

In a letter from William Prescott to John Adams dated August 25, 1775, Prescott wrote at the Battle of Bunker Hill,
"The Decisive day has come." In 1776 Colonel William Prescott served around New York City. In 1777, he went on the Saratoga campaign.

After serving in many wars and campaigns, sadly Colonel William Prescott died in 1795.
