On June 17, 1775, in Massachusetts, the British soldiers drove the American colonists from Bunker Hill. The battle actually took place on Breed's Hill, but Bunker Hill was nearby and became associated with the battle.

The Battle of Bunker Hill or Breed's Hill was one of the first major battles of the American Revolution. The commander for the American Casualties was Colonel William Prescott. The commander for the British soldiers was Major General William Howe.

During this battle, there were 391 Continentals fighting and 1,054 British soldiers fighting. The British took the hill, but the Patriots showed for the second time that they could stand up to the British.
