Singularity

A singularity is simply a term used by modern-day cosmologists that explains a point in space-time that is infinitely small in size and infinitely dense. This, however is only a hypothesis, which hasn't been proven as of yet. But it is very likely that these fascinating objects exist. The reason seems very logical. For example, when a massive star, such as a super-giant, explodes in the form of a supernova, the remnants of the star begin to contract due to the effect of gravity. Since there is nothing holding this force back, the star contracts indefinitely and forms an object called a black hole, the point of no return. A singularity is also thought to be the point from which all matter was expelled into space via the Big Bang.
