The Orange Seaslug lives
on a coral reef. The orange color says, "Don't touch" to other
fish. It likes to eat the stinging tentacles of the sea
anemone. It coats them with a special mucus that makes it so
he can swallow it safely. They taste icky to other fish.
If the predator tries to eat him, then he will spit him back
out.
The Lionfish lives
on reefs in the Indian and Pacific oceans. It is a very
dangerous fish because it has sharp spines that can give wounds to
other fish or people. And sometimes they inject poison into
the wounds. The Lionfish uses its net system to catch other
fish. It spreads its side fins and drives the fish into a
corner where it catches them.
The Puffer fish
can blow up into a big balloon. He does this by pumping water
into his stomach, which expands nearly 100 times its normal
size. The Puffer's stomach is made with pleats. As it
stretches, its spiny armor snaps into an upright position.
Nothing can swallow it when it is like a spiny
balloon.
