HatchetfishThe Hatchetfish lives in the midwaters of the ocean. This fish gets its name because it is shaped like an axe blade. Their eyes, which focus like binoculars, point to the surface so they can look for their prey or for a mate. The lights underneath the fish can be darkened or lighter. These lights can make them invisible to other creatures below.
cuttlefish

The Cuttlefish is smaller than the Octopus.  It uses ink and changing color and patterns to protect itself.  It has four different patterns. The first pattern of zebra stripes makes him harder to see when swimming.  His second pattern of turning his lights to dark suddenly makes the predator not be able to figure out where he went.  Two large dark circles makes the predator think the Cuttlefish is larger and more threatening.  Lastly, his uneven spots makes the Cuttlefish hard to spot against sand.

SlopefishThe Slopefish lives in the Pacific. It looks like a big pile of floating algae. The trailing piece from its stomach camouflages it.Tiny crustaceans and fish think it's a safe place to live, but it really isn't.
