There
are some animals disappearing from the earth. Some of them are becoming scarce
because poachers, people who hunt illegally, kill them for their horns, tusks,
skins, or fur. Other animals are disappearing because they can’t compete for
space, water, or food. We will probably miss these animals if they become
extinct.
But we don’t have to
miss them, and they don’t have to become extinct. We have to save them because
they are an important part of our heritage. We also have to save them for the
most important reason of all – they’re all part of the amazing balance of
nature that makes life so cool.
Protection of wildlife
these days is very important because there are so many species that are
endangered. Thousands of wild
animals are being killed every year to supply people with fur coats, souvenirs,
and pets that are introduced from other countries.
Special
habitats, like salt marshes, are destroyed by pollution.
Rainforests are cut down for their wood and to make more space for farms,
homes, and industry.
Okay.
Now here's the important part. So read carefully. To
help endangered species, learn everything you can about them. Then tell other
people about them. Visit
the zoo, the human society, and your local library to find out about wild
animals in your area. Or try some of the
websites listed below to find out how to help animals survive. No matter
where you live, you can do something. If
everyone in the world cares, we can make our world a better place, so that
humans and animals can live together in peace.
