 Blue Pike
By:Nate

The blue pike was closely related to a fish called the walleye. Although the blue pike wasDNA declared extinct in 1975, scientists think they found blue pike DNA in Lake Erie. Some people might have been catching blue pikes also. The blue pike might not be extinct after all.

The blue pike was most commonly found in the waters of Lake Erie, Ontario, and the Niagara River.

When the blue pikes were almost all gone, 1,000 gallons of cyanide was dumped in the Niagara River daily! That's probably why they became extinct! There was so much pollution in Lake Erie that the blue pikes couldn't handle it.

AnglersYet the blue pike might still be extinct, anglers are still searching for them.
