  Genghis Khan  
And His Relatives

  Genghis Khan       Genghis Khan was born near the Ohron River in Mongolia in about 1162.  His real name was Temujin.  His father was a minor Mongol tribe chieftain.  During the early part of his life, he conquered neighboring tKhan As a Warriorribes.  When he was about 45,  he called a council and declared himself leader of the Mongols.  Everyone followed him because he was a mastermind.
      In 1206, he began the invasion on China.  In 1215, Genghis controlled  all of China north of  the Yellow River.  Whenever he and his army of Mongol and Turkish horsemen, infantrymen, artillerymen, and spies took a city, they would take the booty, technicians, and craftsmen.  Then they would kill everyone else.  In 1219, Genghis and his army took the land that is now Iran, Afghanistan, the Turkish part of Russia, and some of northern India.  In 1222, he conquered Caucasus and Southern Russia.  When Genghis Khan died in 1227, his empire was split up between his relatives.
       Kublai KhanGenghis Khan's son Ogadai took more of Northern China in 1234.  In 1241 Ogadai Khan died.  Many of his relatives such as Jagatai his brother, Butu, Hulagu, Mangu, and Kublai his nephews later took Persia, Iraq, Hungary, and Poland.  Most of  them fought like Genghis did.  Genghis and his relatives took the most land ever in history.
