    Getting Started

Access is accessed (pun yes?) from clicking Start, Programs, Microsoft Office 2000 (we'll be using 2000), and Microsoft Access.  A dialog box appears.  For this exercise, click "Blank Access database" and save it as database.mdb (.mdb stands for Microsoft Database).  A window appears as shown.  This window holds all the access to the data  in your database.  A table is a spreadsheet style window similar to Excel.  Queries are items that can link tables.  Forms a re ways of presenting data.  Reports are printouts of the data collected.  There are three ways to enter data, through design view, a wizard, and by manually entering data.  To begin learning how to operate Access, click one of the items in the Objects window.
