Alithie

In a certain spot on a certain bed, if you look closely you will see an animal just waking up. Who is it?

Alithie, that's the name of my cuddly. She's named after the alethiometer from the His Dark Materials trilogy. I took the first part of he word, Alethie, changed the "e" to an "i" and came up with her name. (Alithea means truth.)

Alithie is a female raccoon. From the tip of her ear to the beginning of her tail is the length of my hand span.

I got her at a small store near my house for Halloween, on October 27, 2002. I needed her for my costume. She was the first animal I saw and she had this pleading look on her face as if to say, "Get me off this shelf!" I felt as if I had to get her. If I hadn't I would have felt so guilty!

Alithie's favorite foods are garbage, strawberries, bananas, and my hair. Her favorite toy is my basketball. She likes to play on the computer too. Her favorite board game is Stratego, a strategy game. She certainly likes a lot of stuff!

I love Alithie. I don't want to go any where without her. But I have to, right? I mean, I don't want to lose her in school like I did at home! When I lost her at home, it was crazy. I looked absolutely everywhere; under and behind the bed, under the sheets even under the mattress! I also looked everywhere else I could think of. A few days later I found her on my bookcase!!! Now I keep her on my bed so I don't lose her.

Lately, she has become friends with Moxie, the tabby cat, but she has loads of other friends too. Such as Iorek, my finger puppet, Mousie, my pillow, and of course, me! My wolf, Wolfie, however, I think is a bit jealous of Alithie. Ever since I got Alithie I haven't paid much attention to her. Oh well, I will.

When I'm asleep, she gets up and starts playing and jumping around. Though I have never have woken up on one of these occasions, I know she does it. How, might you ask? Well, in the Golden Compass there are demons that are your soul. Alithie is like my demon, so I'd know if she got up.

Alithie is a lot of fun and she is so lively that I don't think she could ever die. So, really, LONG LIVE ALITHIE!
